I am very impressed by your program! I would love to have some Native Americans at the vigil I am going to head up in Georgia and a drum ceremony. Any ideas how I might go about finding them? I also love the idea of sending things to the president. Very creative!

Thanks Tracy. Your local library can probably help you find Native Americans. They might have a listing of chiefs and how to contact them. We are going to use a single drum– a slow beat for the foals, a trot rhythm for the mares,a gallop beat for stallions. We will name the horses–Braveheart/Old Sister etc.–and also some of the range areas. We will include the burros of Big Bend Texas in our prayers. Two books that are very helpful: ” Earth Prayers” by Roberts and Amidon and” Meditations on the Earth” by Hughes . These offer short quotes and philosophy and are useful to the group leader. I plan to keep the program short–not more than 30 minutes–this is New England–very chilly. Please feel free to use /modify this program. I’m glad this effort has gone international–we need some media coverage!

ok, sorry if I am not using original ideas here but could you email me a list of the horses and burros that have passed away at the hands of the BLM this year? I know, I should look it up myself but if you can email me the info, I would be very grateful. dogznhorses@comcast.net. Thanks so much!

Oh good–we will ” hold hands” with your attendees across space and time. I will name your vigil at our meeting. Nice !
November 28, 2011 at 1:15 am
This is wonderful. I’ll see what I can get going on in Connecticut as a sister vigil. The numbers are growing in the Tri State area as well maybe we can get a central location and get a really good turnout closer to NY Metro. If we can’t pull it off we will convoy to MA to join you there. Thank you for keeping their light shining.

Hi Sarah–I have not heard of anyone coming the distance from Maryland– you are welcome to attend–but maybe there is a Vigil closer to you??? Or you could run one??

I am kinda in the dark here…:)…need some light, i.e., information. Do you know how many will be at the NEW ENGLAND ceremony in Carlisle, MASSACHUSETTS? I might be able to go. And I am “suggesting” my daughter come with my 7 year old grandson. An event like this is good to instill values of caring, justice, in the young. And! A love of horses ❤ . BTW, there was a candlelight ceremony for the wolves too. And you all know of the beautiful "LIGHT THE SKY" ceremony, Animals' Angels, Dec. 10. I sent my messages of Hope & Light and felt it here in MA. as the candles were being lit. Beautiful.

Hi Ronnie Are you planning on coming to the Vigil?? Send me an email if you need directions. Ann alawrence44@hotmail.com
December 13, 2011 at 9:15 pm
Hi Ronnie I think we’ll have about 10 people–we do have a woman coming from Maine. The program will last about 30 minutes. I feel it’s important to join with the other 50 states and the international community in this effort to save the last of our wild _________. Well for me it’s the horses–but I am worried about the wolves and the bison and so on…. it is sad and scary. At this rate, we’ll be showing our great grandchildren animal pictures and stuffed bodies in a museum. Where are you located? You are certainly welcome to join us–rain or shine we will meet.

Ann, Thank you for getting back to me. As I said above, I am unsure if I can get there tomorrow evening (Carlisle). I sure will try! And thank you, I know the way. I am on the North Shore, close to NH border. Thank you for having this all-important ceremony. Ronnie
